The Global Network of Institutions for Statistical Training (GIST) is launching a new tool to help National Statistical Offices (NSOs) lead training provision for their staff and the wider National Statistical System. It has been piloted by countries that have taken a driving seat in ensuring the tool meets key strategic needs. Join to learn if the tool is relevant for your office too!
GIST has for years worked on supporting the training needs of NSOs. The Statistical Training needs Assessment Tool (STAT) has thus been developed to help NSOs assess and analyze staff skills gaps and strategically decide on how to prioritize and meet their training needs by using different informal and formal learning approaches. STAT consists of three questionnaires to assess skills levels and training needs at the NSO and within the National Statistical System (NSS) as well as guidance on how to analyze the data using R and Power BI, how to prioritize among training needs, and how to establish a varied training plan for the NSO (and the NSS).
After being piloted in six countries, STAT is now ready and will be launched at the event. Participants will be introduced to STAT and learn how it has contributed to the efforts of DANE in Colombia and Ghana Statistical Service to put training at the center of organizational development based on the needs of staff and the organization.
